Gordon L. Picotte papers, 1932-1995.

The Gordon L. Picotte Papers consist of a scrapbook, photographs, writings, and memorabilia. The scrapbook documents the 1936-37 University of Alaska hockey team, then named the Alaska Polar Bears (now Nanooks), which traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada playing exhibition games as a marketing tool for the young University. It includes photographs of the UA hockey team, opposing teams, and game play as well as ephemera and detailed captions. There is also a hockey puck autographed by the team members. A separate grouping of 13 photographs depicts the Ballaine farm on Farmer's Loop Road near Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1932-33. The collection also includes writings by Picotte and memorabilia of the Fairbanks Ice Carnival, the Grand Igloo Pioneers of Alaska, and the International Sourdough Reunion. The records also include family information in the form of a manuscript titled "The Joseph Picotte Family Branch".
